Applications for the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and the Supporting Learning Programme, and bookings for the Survival Skills days are now being taken.
The Certificate in Academic Practice (CAP) is an in-service programme designed to support and accredit the academic development of a range of staff who teach and support student learning at Lancaster, including:
The Supporting Learning Programme is designed to provide a framework for the academic and professional development of those who hold posts which involve some duties and responsibilities for supporting the development and/or delivery of learning opportunities.
The Survival Skills workshops are one-day events designed to help postgraduates, researchers and others involved in modest amounts of demonstrating or seminar teaching to address some of the basic skills and understanding they will need for their work. It assumes that participants have little or no previous teaching experience.
Organisation & Educational Development (OED)
OED provides a range of support for individuals, teams and organisational development ranging from facilitated development sessions through to accredited programmes. OED also provides advice and support on organisation and educational development matters to all categories of staff, and works with Lancaster departments and international partner institutions. OED is located in the HR Building, between University House and the Security lodge. General enquiries should be addressed to OED@lancaster.ac.uk .
Educational Development
The Educational Development team provides a range of advice and guidance on teaching and curriculum design as well as resources to support the development of academic practice. This includes:
· Professional development programmes for academic staff, postgraduates and others who teach or support learning.
· Effective teaching resources in areas such as curriculum & assessment design, feedback, teaching groups, technology enhanced learning, internationalisation etc.
