Teaching Development - Service Statement
Advice and support for the development and enhancement of teaching and curriculum is provided by CELT team members through a number of strands at individual, departmental, faculty and institutional levels.
Accredited Programmes
A variety of postgraduate-level taught modules are run for new and experienced teaching staff, postgraduates who teach, and staff who support students' learning as part of their wider role. Modules can lead to a Postgraduate Certificate qualification, and are also externally accredited by the Higher Education Academy.
Continuing Professional Development Programme
A programme of discrete professional development events and short courses are provided, aimed at supporting all staff who teach or support students as part of their role. These include whole day, half day and seminar sessions on a single topic, and also teaching days with a series of sessions linked by a broader theme. These are sometimes located within a single faculty, or offered to the university as a whole. Choices of topic for these events and courses emerge by request from individuals, departments or faculties, are linked to institutional priorities, or are of national importance.
Individual Level Advice and Support for Innovation
Support is available on a one-to-one consultancy basis for individual staff wishing to address emerging issues in their teaching or their students' learning, or who want support in developing and evaluating course-level innovations.
Departmental Level Support and Development
Part of our role is to support and advise individual departments in the development and enhancement of their courses. This includes advising on departmental policy and strategy on teaching and learning, exploring issues at the design/course approval stage, or supporting the review and development of existing programmes and modules.
Faculty level Advice and Support

Dissemination of Good Practice
