Certificate in Academic Practice (CAP) and Associate Teacher Programme (ATP) graduation ceremony
Thursday 13th January saw another 45 people graduating from these two professional development programmes and this year there were several people who completed the recently introduced Diploma modules. Participants were mainly from Lancaster University, and there were also graduates from Sunway University College, Malaysia. Following a welcome by Dr. Paul Rodaway of Organisation and Educational Development, the University Chancellor, Sir Chris Bonington, CBE, congratulated the graduates of the programmes and said he was “impressed by their commitment to continuing their professional development in the face of many competing priorities – teaching, research, admin, entrepreneurship, not to mention life.” Before handing out the certificates he thanked them on behalf of the institution for their commitment to Lancaster and to their students.

The courses develop strong cross-disciplinary, as well as departmentally-based, opportunities for discussing, reviewing and developing teaching practice. Opportunities to continue to support and develop this community of practice are a core part of the University’s continuing professional development (CPD) framework for teaching and learning.
Recruitment and completion rates for both of these programmes are increasing year on year, which is a measure of the commitment to teaching and learning at Lancaster University.
