Certificate in Academic Practice (CAP) and Associate Teacher Programme (ATP) awards ceremony
Tuesday 15th July saw the awards ceremony for record numbers (a total of 68) completing these two professional development programmes involving participants at Lancaster University and at the University’s Malaysian partner institution Sunway University College.
Ali Cooper, Director of the CAP programme recognised this as “a fantastic achievement with all the competing priorities that participants on the programme have to deal with”.
Dr. Paul Rodaway, Director of CELT, emphasised “how impressed both the outgoing and the incoming external examiners were with the quality of work produced by participants”.
Professor Bob McKinlay, Deputy Vice Chancellor, presented the certificates, praising the achievement of those graduating from the programme.
The courses develop strong cross-disciplinary, as well as departmentally-based, opportunities for discussing, reviewing and developing teaching practice. Opportunities to continue to support and develop this community of practice are a core part of the University’s continuing professional development (CPD) framework for teaching and learning.
It was also highlighted at the ceremony that two of this year’s teaching prize winners are graduates of the CiLTHE programme, the precursor to CAP and ATP.
Recruitment and completion rates for both of these programmes are increasing year on year, which is a measure of the commitment to teaching and learning at Lancaster University.
