1. Can I transfer materials from my existing ePortfolio or online PDP to MyPLace?
You cannot automatically transfer content from another system but you can cut and paste specific material you wish to reflect further upon or share with others through MyPlace.
2. I have been using LUPDP: do I continue to use this or should I use MyPlace?
LUPDP is no longer available. If you have a record in LUPDP this will transfer into your archive on MyPlace. You should use MyPlace.
3. Why should I maintain a record of personal reflections?
Research shows maintaining a record of your reflections contributes to building self-awareness of strengths & weaknesses, and overall improves self confidence and may contribute to greater success in future study/employment.
4. A paper record or an online record?
Online reflective records are increasingly popular as they are easy to use, less likely to get lost, easier to organise in multiple ways, and you can selectively share with different audiences and gain feedback.
5. Why should I share MyPlace blogs?
We can learn a lot from obtaining comments or feedback from other people on what we have written. Through MyPlace you can choose with whom you wish to share individual blogs - a friend, students on your course, a particular tutor.
6. Should I comment on other people's MyPlace blogs?
If you are invited by another person to comment on their blog it suggest that that person values your opinion. You can often learn something of benefit to yourself by reading another person's blog and writing constructive comments on it.
7. Can I share blogs with people outside the University?
No. MyPlace has been established as a service to members of the University and currently you can only share blogs with other members of the University.
