Professional Development for Lancaster University’s partner institution Sunway University College, Malaysia.

The Teaching Development team recently completed a 5-day workshop with staff in Sunway University College .  This was the third workshop provided by CELT since February 2007 as part of the support for their transformation from College to University.

The TD team has been working with senior staff on strategic issues such as quality and enhancement processes, for example peer observation and the use of student feedback to inform course design and delivery, and with a group of more junior staff on developing classroom practice.

The TD team have so far worked with 50 staff members of staff at Sunway, 30 of whom have signed up for the Certificate in Academic Practice programme, the same programme as that undertaken by staff here at Lancaster University.

There is already clear evidence of ideas and changes in practice being cascaded to others in Sunway as a result of the involvement of individuals in these workshops.  The Teaching Development team will be providing Sunway with a fourth workshop on Curriculum Design and Development in November 2008.
