There are numerous board games available on loan from behind the bar on production of a library card. These include dominos, chess, playing cards, draughts and backgammon.

Parties & Discos

A good place to hold a party is in the College Bar. Please speak with our Bar Manager, Ian Thomson, if you have a birthday coming up and wish to celebrate it 'Bowland style'.

Parties may be held in selected areas, such as kitchens, but the permission of the College Residence Officer must be obtained at least three working days in advance. An application form can be obtained from the College Office.

No parties or noisy functions will be held during the 'Quiet Period' for University examinations in summer, which includes times for all students, and spreads through nearly all the summer term.

Television

There are 4 TVs in the JCR for use during normal opening hours. For late night viewing permission must be applied for three days in advance.
Residents should note that a personal mains-operated television set is not covered by the College licence and requires a separate licence. It is the student's sole responsibility to obtain a television licence for use of a TV in their room. This also includes watching live TV on your lap top or P.C.

Off-Campus Students' Common Room

The College has made special provision for Bowland students living off-campus by providing purpose – built facilities in the Admin Wing in Bowland Main. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen, bookable lockers and computer facilities for these students.
