In recent years, Bowland has become recognised as the University's new sporting college, fielding a team for every event, gathering considerable support, and taking top places in the various inter-college competitions.

Carter Shield

The Carter Shield is the primary inter-college sporting competition, involving both weekly leagues (football, netball and others) and individual events such as tug-of-war and pop lacrosse.

George Wyatt Cup

The George Wyatt Cup, another inter-college tournament, involves bar sports, including darts, pool and dominos.

Founders' Series

The Founders' Series began in 2004 and is an annual weekend tournament between Bowland and Lonsdale, the University's founding colleges. A variety of sports are contested, including football, netball, rounders and pool.
