Accommodation Information
We have been one of the last colleges to be re-built as regards accommodation and college facilities and therefore benefit by having the newest and most modern facilities! Grizedale College accommodation comprises 18 'Town Houses', 5 blocks of en suite flats (40 in total), 3 blocks of standard flats (9 in total) and one block of single and double studios housing 605 students in total. For further information please see the main Accommodation Office
The en suite flats have 6 rooms (unless there is a dedicated disabled adapted room when there are only 5 rooms to a flat) and a cleaning service to the communal kitchen (with both soft seating and dining areas).
The standard rooms are not en suite but do have their own wash basin within the room. There are 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets per flat plus a large communal kitchen. The rent in these rooms is slightly lower than in the newer accommodation and they are extremely good value.
All these flats are being refurbished Summer 2012 and will have completely new kitchen fittings such as cupboards, flooring, cookers, fridges etc plus new fitted beds (7ft in length) and new carpets in the individual study rooms to name just a few of the upgrades!
The studio block
is situated in Alexandra Park and contains 64 single & 8 double self contained studios with kitchenette areas. This accommodation is available to all student year groups although we would advise first year students not to live in a self contained studio due to the fact that they have no communal area for socialising.
The Town Houses
are different to the majority of rooms on campus in the fact that they have a longer let length than the en suite blocks i.e. 43 weeks instead of 40 weeks and that no cleaning service is provided. The communal areas contain a living room space with large sofas, coffee table and patio door leading to outside space and have proved extremely popular with all students as an alternative to the smaller flats.
