The Principal has overall responsibility for the running of the college and represents Lonsdale on many University committees. In particular, he heads the team responsible for residence matters and is the main link between junior and senior members.

The Senior Tutor has a general responsibility for student welfare and she is also in charge of the advisory system. You should see her if you wish to change college, transfer to another tutor, or wish to apply for a college loan.

The Dean

The Dean is the senior disciplinary officer of the college. But the responsibilities of the Dean also include the safety and security of the college. The Dean will also investigate nuisances of a non-disciplinary nature.

The Vice-Principal deputises for the Principal in his absence. He is the Chair of the Travel Grant committee.

Assistant Deans

Lonsdale's four Assistant Deans (from left to right - Marina Kalashnikova, Isabell Loeschner, Brendan Stuart and Siobhan Weare) live close by to the college and are on hand to assist the Porters. Not only do they deal with discipline, but are happy to have a chat with students to give advice on problems.

College Porters

Lonsdale's four Porters (from left to right - Arthur Barlow; Ben Brotheridge; John Clegg and Paul Winder) duties are numerous. Many of these are mundane but essential to the running of the college. So, from time to time, when you really need the porter because you have locked yourself out and you’re wearing nothing but a towel, want a chat or any advice, he will undoubtedly be in the mail room or out on his rounds. Porters are usually the first port of call for the thousdands of questions that you will have regarding the college and the university. They are on duty 24/7 during termtime. If they are not answering their phone then call Security. The porters are here to make your life in Lonsdale as easy as possible. If the porter cannot answer your query, he should know someone who can. Problems relating to maintenance, whether in your bedroom, bathroom, kitchen or in your flat in general, should be reported online via Planon but if you are unable to access the online service, you can report the problem to the Porter on duty.

The bar offers a wide range of beers, spirits and wines and is the centre for many social functions in the college. The DPS manages the licensed bar and liaises with the JCR in the running of social functions.
