Dear Lonsdale 2012 Fresher
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Lonsdale 'simply the best' College on Sunday 30 September. You can arrive at the college on the day from 10:00 and you will be greeted by our JCR Fresher Reps (wearing yellow t-shirts) who will guide you to the porters lodge and help you to your rooms. We will be having a welcome talk later in the afternoon, so please do try and arrive before this (see the Principal's welcome letter); and then a baked potato evening.
Members of the College staff (SCR) and JCR Executive (student committee) will be around all day to help with your arrival and to answer any queries you may have.
Take a look at College information on our Facebook and Twitter (LoniFreshers2012) pages and in the College Handbook.
For a full programme of your commitments please see THE GUIDE which is full of useful information about Freshers Week including where you are expected to be and at what time!! You will need to refer to this....
Our JCR have organised a full and varied social programme for you...there are some nights out with lots of dressing up so please take this opportunity to get to know other members of your college and make new friends.
The JCR have organised a fantastic week of Freshers events, however, if you fancy some time away from the pubs and clubs there are a few alternative events going on during Freshers’ week that are open to students from all colleges:
Lancaster Castle: Dark History Tours - Tuesday 2nd October, we will be catching the bus into Lancaster for prompt 7:30pm start

Buses from Campus to Lancaster leave the underpass at 18.28 and 18.48 (2a bus) or Lonsdale 18.35 and 18.55 (3 bus) - return fare is £2.30
Blackpool Illuminations - Wednesday, 3rd October, leaving Cartmel South Avenue at 6.45pm
Join us on a coach trip through Blackpool’s famous lights, as they celebrate their 100th birthday. You will be given the chance to stop for fish and chips on the way home.

Morecambe Superbowl - Thursday, 4th October, leaving Pendle Avenue at 3.30pm
If you fancy an afternoon ten pin bowling, join us on our trip to Morecambe Superbowl. Tickets are £5 per head and include two hours of bowling and return transport from campus. Tickets are available from the on-line store by clicking here.
The SCR have organised, and will be attending with the JCR, our Freshers Ball on Friday 12 October at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool. If you are an off campus student, we aim to make you feel as included as possible and will be inviting you to a special welcome session at 16:30 in Lonsdale Senior Common Room on Sunday 30 September.
