Pendle College Update for Week 1 Summer Term 2013
Pendle College FC are playing Wednesday 24th April against Bowland College at 4.00 pm at the football pitches. Pendle need to either win or draw to claim the league title! Do please take a rest from your revision, get some fresh air and come down to support your fantastic College Team!!

University Quiet Period has begun and lasts until Saturday of Week 9. During this time no noise is permitted, and noise fines will be doubled. Anyone contemplating an event during the Quiet Period must seek special permission from the Dean.

Exam Survival – If you look after your own wellbeing you will be much better placed to do well in your exams. The Exam Stress webpage www.lancs.ac.uk/sbs/health/examstress contains information and advice about how to look after yourself, from eating well to exercising and making sure you get enough sleep. You can also attend a workshop that addresses revision and exam stress this Wednesday, 24 April, between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. T’ai Chi Classes – Originally developed for self-defence, t’ai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that’s now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, t’ai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements and is ideal for helping with all that exam stress! All are welcome to come along to our FREE classes on Mondays this term starting next week, 29th April, from 5.15pm to 6.15pm, in the Quiet Room, Chaplaincy Centre. Wear lose and comfortable clothing.

Want to escape campus for the bank holiday 6th May!? Join us at the picturesque site of Williamson Park, surrounding the spectacular Ashton Memorial for the Go Walkies event.
You DON’T have to have a dog! You can merely come along for the sunshine, an ice cream and a chance to see new puppies along with the opportunity to win big prizes, while donating your pennies to a worthwhile charity!
Williamson Park in Lancaster – 54 acres of beautiful parkland with enchanting woodland walks and play areas and breathtaking views to the Fylde Coast, Morecambe Bay and the Lake District. There is a fantastic Butterfly House, mini beasts and small animal zoo.
There will be fun for all students and families with face-painting, cash prizes, dog performances, scavenger hunts and much, much more.
Remember, there are lots of ways to be involved in Pendle and it’s the best way to have a great time in College.
You can stand to get elected to the JCR Exec Committee effectively becoming part of Pendle’s Management Team!

Do some dj-ing – and let the music play

Play in a Pendle band the college has its own equipment and stage

Join one of several sports teams and represent Pendle against other colleges

Raise money for charity or be seriously keen on dressing up (fancy or classy) and partying in the bar

Volunteering for one of the overseas opportunities in the summer (in collaboration with Lancaster University’s Volunteering Unit), you can learn to cook or invent and organise something completely different from all of these just for fun!
