Mandarin Chinese Language Classes
We offer Mandarin Chinese Language Classes for staff, students and the local community. Please see details below.
We will organise classes for intermediate level - please email if you are interested.
For all classes, learners will need to study privately for approximately 3 hours a week between lessons in order to learn vocabulary.

| Course aims & objectives | For beginners with no prior knowledge. Learners will learn basic phonetics and tones and use about 200 words around the following topics (greetings, introductions, shopping, making a phone call, telling the time, ordering dishes). At the end of the course learners will have learnt some survival Chinese. |

| Course aims & objectives | For those who have learned around 200 Chinese words. Participants will learn a further 200 words around various topics (asking directions, buying airplane tickets, booking a hotel room, briefly introducing hobbies, seeing a doctor, briefly talking about the weather). At the end of the course, learners can speak some basic Chinese. Comments from one ex-learner: I have the confidence to travel to China. |

Participants will learn a further 200 words and how to read and recognize 20 ‘survival’ Chinese characters, and will progress their knowledge of Chinese grammar. At the end of the course, learners will be able to use simple Chinese in daily life. |
