The Buddhist Meditation Room is upstairs in the Chaplaincy Centre, next door to the Anglican Flat. It is always open to those wishing to use it to follow their personal meditation practice, whether Buddhist or otherwise. Very occasionally priority needs to be given to Buddhist meetings. There is a tape library including some basic tapes on how to meditate and a cassette player under the table next to the altar.
The room is usually kept unlocked, but if locked, the key can be obtained from security. Please leave the room as you find it for other users. Make sure that you extinguish any candles on leaving.
The images in the room include a large Thangka of the Buddha painted by students for the 30th Anniversary of the Chaplaincy Centre, a picture of Avalokiteshvara (Kuan-Yin) who embodies Universal Compassion, and a modern Chinese Scroll of the Heart Sutra, central to Mahayana Buddhism.
