The PASSPORT to Higher Education Programme has now finished for 2010. Currently there are no plans to run the programme again. Please contact the UK Recruitment team to enquire about Lancaster University's widening participation and access programmes, tel. 01524 594031.

If you need to discuss the PASSPORT programme or a past student please contact Rory Daly (r.daly@lancaster.ac.uk).

The following information relates to the Passport programme in 2010.

4 - 24 July 2010

The PASSPORT programme provides a bridge between school/college and higher education, by providing additional academic qualifications and experience: it can help you to secure a place in higher education and ensure that you are well prepared for university life. It's an opportunity to experience life as a higher education student and find out whether it's the right step for you.

If you have applied to enter higher education this year, the PASSPORT programme can help you to top up your qualifications in case you don't get the right grades. It will also give you a flying start when you enter higher education by giving you the opportunity to improve your study and subject skills.

The PASSPORT programme options include a combination of study skills modules and academic modules. You can take modules:

  • on-line

  • at Lancaster University (residential or non-residential)

The PASSPORT to Higher Education Programme is run by Lancaster University and particularly welcomes students who have applied to Lancaster. However, each year about one third of PASSPORT students go on to other colleges and universities and find the PASSPORT experience equally useful. PASSPORT welcomes all students who are aiming to enter higher education.

You may be entitled to a PASSPORT scholarship - we offer free scholarships for tuition and some for tuition and accommodation.

Apply early as there are a limited number of places on PASSPORT. The closing date for receipt of applications has been extended to the 14th May 2010.
