Campus Road Refurbishments
Work to the perimeter road has now started – so far we have been replacing kerbs in isolated areas and excavating for new drainage gulleys in areas that have suffered from flooding due to heavy rainfall.
To renew the road and parking bays we first need to plane off the existing tarmac and then lay the new surface. For both these processes we will need to isolate areas of car parking. Please see this parking plan that shows the areas (indicated by colour) and dates for when parking will be unavailable.
Please note that traffic in both directions will be maintained Mon-Fri throughout the duration of the works.
Over weekends however there will be some road closures: - Saturday 3rd-Sunday 4th the yellow area of road will be closed. - Saturday 10th-Sunday 11th the green area on the perimeter road and Bigforth Drive (after the sports centre) will be closed. For access to campus from the A6 you will need to use the Alex Park entrance – access to the sports centre from the A6 will not be affected. - Saturday 24th-Sunday 25th Bigforth drive and the roundabout will be closed. For access to campus from the A6 you will need to use the Alex Park entrance – access to the sports centre from the A6 will not be affected.

Computer Centre / HR

Whitfield & Brown (contractor) have been appointed to carry out the refurbishment of the old ISS Computer Centre. Work began on site in April 2011 and will be completed in late September 2011. The Human Resources department will move across once refurbishment has been completed.

Energy Centre
Energy Centre, to the rear of Slaidburn House

The existing Boiler House is being refurbished to create a new Energy Centre to accomodate high efficiency gas boilers, a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit, cold water storage and associated ancillaries. The building management systems and control will also be upgraded. The CHP will provide approximately 20% of the University's electricity requirement. The project is due to be completed in October 2011

External Works to Bigforth Drive
Advance Notice of closure of Bigforth Drive (INBOUND carriageway) – Commencing Tuesday 5th April 2011
Work on Bigforth Drive in front of the New Sports Centre to install new footpaths, crossings and a new bus stop and shelter is progressing. Commencing on Tuesday 5th April 2011 it will be necessary to close the inbound carriageway of Bigforth Drive in order to complete the works. All vehicular traffic will need to enter the site via the entrance on Alexandra Park off Hazelrigg Lane. The outbound carriageway will remain open. Diversion signs will be in place.
