Staff Survey - 2003-2007
- Sole-occupancy car use has dropped by 2.4% to 55.7%
- Cycling has increased by 1.6% to 13.1%
- Bus use has increased by 1.6% to 11.2%
Additional findings include:
- 21% of male staff cycle to work compared with 6% of female staff
- 95% of car share arrangements are made informally between colleagues
- 50% of staff surveyed live under 5 miles from the University
Off-Campus Student Survey - February 2006-November 2007
- Cycling almost doubled from 5.4% to 10.4%
- Walking almost doubled from 3.1% to 6.1%
- Car use dropped by 4.8%
- Bus use accounts for 55% of student travel
Additional findings include:
- 30% of postgraduate research students cycle as their main mode of travel
- More postgraduate research students cycle than travel by car, either as a driver or as a passenger
- Male students cycle and walk more than female students
