The film ‘Paycheck’ involves the protagonist Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck) working for clients on technological advancements in such areas as computing etc. Jennings would work on a project, one of which his clients had been working on for years, and finish it within a couple of months. Then he would have his memories erased up until the day when the corporation hired him. The work of which he did is then accredited to the corporation and Jennings receives his paycheck without ever remembering his work he did.
The film progresses when he is offered an opportunity to work for the biggest paycheck yet, ninety-two million dollars. The project, though, involves Jennings working for two years something of which has never been attempted before, as the longest time that memories have been wiped for is two months. In order to do this, Jennings will be injected with a solution that acts as a marker and then once the project has finished his memories are wiped back to the marker.
Once the project has finished Jennings rapidly learns that he won’t be collecting the 92 million dollars worth of shares. The film then revolves around the attempts of Jennings to uncover the truth of why he didn’t get paid and what exactly the project was. An envelope of items of which he finds out that he left himself, aids him. He managed to do this as the project he was working on was concerned with seeing into the future. Jennings whilst working for the corporation saw into the future and consequently left seemingly everyday items to help him survive once the project had finished.
