The purpose of the meeting is
to bring together in an informal setting the active gravitational research
community in the UK and others interested from continental Europe and beyond.
The meeting is particularly aimed at young people such as research students
(irrespective of whether they have submitted for their higher degree) and
postdocs.
The topic of the meeting is General Relativity Theory including mathematical
cosmology and gravitational physics covering classical, quantum and
experimental aspects.
Participants are invited to give a short talk on some
recent work and, in addition, there will be pedagogic seminars by international leaders
in the field. The number and duration of the talks will be fixed once we
know the
total number of applicants. If your talk is based on a preprint that is
available at the arXiv.org archives, please state its archive/yymmnnn
registration number with the submission of your abstract. For the purpose
of presentation overhead projector and boards will be available.
Abhay
Ashtekar will give some pedagogical lectures on: Dynamical
and Isolated Horizons
Bernard F
Schutz (Einstein Institute, Potsdam) will give two talks:
1: Estimating the strength of gravitational
waves
2: Understanding Lense-Thirring and its relation to inflation
There will be a book prize for the best talk by a research
student, provided by the Institute of Physics journal "Classical and Quantum
Gravity".
