Best paper award for Lancaster alumna

Congratulations to Dr Anoud Abusalim who is the joint winner of the inaugural Christopher N. Candlin Award for the Best Paper by Early Career Scholars.

Anoud received her award at the Joint AELFE (European Association of Languages for Specific Purposes) – LSPPC (Asia-Pacific LSP and Professional Communication Association) conference held between June 28 and 30 2023 in Zaragoza, Spain.

The paper Coloniality and social sciences research: ERPP realities and border thinking in the Arab world was published in English for Specific Purposes in February 2023.

Anoud is a graduate of the Doctoral Programme in Educational Research. Professor Paul Ashwin, Anoud’s Supervisor, said “It is great that this award recognises the excellent critical research that Anoud has been doing exploring the role of coloniality in researchers’ writing and knowledge practices”.
