Maintenance Work to Speed Humps

Week commencing 20th May there will be maintenance work to the paved speed humps on the perimeter road of campus. The work will not require any closures or rerouting of traffic and all traffic will be able to pass through the area during the work.

There will also be work to the paved areas on Bigforth Drive during the night over the week commencing 23rd June 2013. This will not be noisy work and any traffic that does require access will be allowed through as directed by the contractors.

Campus Heating Shutdown

The campus heating systems are scheduled to be switched off from 1st June until September for the summer shutdown. During this time essential maintenance work will take place.

Facilities would like to draw attention to the fact that use of localised electric convector heaters to supplement the building's normal heating systems are not normally allowed and heaters found in offices, seminar spaces, common areas etc. will be removed. The only exception to using electric heaters would normally be in a situation where there is a heating problem or failure, this would be authorised by the Facilities Maintenance team.

Disruption can be caused to University activities when electric heaters overload local electrical circuits. Also the use of electric heaters can artificially raise the temperature and can activate local temperature sensors in to switching off the heating system in rooms, spaces, floors and in some cases, the entire building causing inconvenience. If you are experiencing problems with your heating please report it on the Facilities helpdesk or calling 93333 or email facilities.helpdesk@lancaster.ac.uk or report it online.

For additional information please refer to the heating policy on the Facilities website.
