I then worked in Nottingham - first as a care manager/ASW in a community rehabilitation team, then as manager of a mental health day and outreach service and finally as joint co-ordinator of a voluntary sector option on the Diploma in Social Work programme at the University of Nottingham . I began work as Senior Project Development Officer for the Mental Health in Higher Education project (mhhe) in January 2003 and joined the Department here at Lancaster three years later. mhhe aims to enhance learning and teaching about mental health through increasing networking across the disciplines in UK Higher Education. The project has a web-site, runs national and regional workshops, facilitates email discussion lists and publishes case studies, good practice guides and a regular e-bulletin. mhhe is a UK-wide initiative funded by the the Higher Education Academyand the two CETLs with a focus on mental health. It is managed by the Academy's subject centre for Social Policy and Social Work (SWAP) and has strong links withthe Centre of Excellence in Interdisciplinary Mental Health at the University of Birmingham and the Centre for Excellence in Mental Health and Social Work at Middlesex University.
