Mental Health in Higher Education

Mental Health in Higher Education (mhhe) was hosted by the Department of Applied Social Science from January 2006 to July 2011, when it relocated – with the Senior Project Development Officer - to the University of Cumbria.

mhhe aims to enhance learning and teaching about mental health through increasing networking and the sharing of approaches, across the disciplines in UK higher education. The project coordinates a network of 1400 educators, runs a jiscmail discussion list, facilitates a network for service user and carer involvement workers employed in higher education institutions (DUCIE) and produces a bimonthly e-bulletin (mhhenews).  Details of mhhe’s past events and resources can be found at www.mhhe.heacademy.ac.uk.

Although restructuring of the Higher Education Academy has brought to an end substantive funding for mhhe, a small residual budget will facilitate some activity in the academic year 2011-12.  This will focus on  developing links with the restructured HEA and exploring new directions and funding oppportunities, along with the migration of mhhe’s activity to the newly developed mhhe hub.  For more information about the future of mhhe, or to get involved, please visit the hub at http://mhhehub.ning.com/.

Links with the Department will be maintained through Bob Sapey, chair of the mhhe advisory group.
