I am currently working on a series of publications and projects on the political and technological implications of 'digital geopolitics' and Cybersecurity: in particular, I am interested in the methodological, political, social and ethical problems posed by the speed of technological transformation for security thinking; and on how alternative perspectives from 'critical design' and 'scenario planning' can be used to help us think about security politics, risk and global social change. This project emerges from the work I have done on Paul Virilio (Routledge, forthcoming) and from collaboration with colleagues in the InfoLab here at Lancaster University. More broadly, I am interested in twentieth century 'critical theory' - and the work of people like Guy Debord, Theodor Adorno, Zygmunt Bauman, Hannah Arendt and Paul Virilio.

I have taught courses at Sussex University, the University of Bristol and the Open University.
