At the top of Kilimanjaro

Sociology: External Liaison/ Web Co-ordinator

Associated research centres and groups: Centre for Gender and Women's Studies, Centre for Science Studies, Centre for the Study of Environmental Change

My Role

My role within the department involves being responsible for admissions, organisation of the department's conferences and workshops, maintaining the website and dealing with all general queries.

Office Hours

My hours of work are varied and mostly depend upon the activities taking place within Sociology, however, I can be usually be reached Monday-Friday between 8.45 - 4.45.

Personal Information

I joined the department in April 2006, directly after taking 10 months out and travelling the world.

I'm a regular visitor to 'The Dukes', an independent cinema in Lancaster, which I thoroughly recommend to everyone. It's diverse range of films means a hardly a week goes by that I'm not there, at least once!

I'm also actively involved in raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and in August 2007 completed a successful climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro (see photo, I'm the one on the left).

Other Interests and Hobbies

I enjoy keeping fit using horse ridingand walking in the Lake District (which luckily is in easy reach of home). I also go to the gym but I have to be honest and say this is more of a chore than and hobby! I also enjoy cake baking, sugar craft and DIY.
