Postgraduate Funding for Masters Degrees
CGWS recognises that funding is a major consideration for prospective students and assists students wherever possible in obtaining adequate funding for their studies. We also strongly encourage students to research funding possibilities for which they may be eligible in addition to those listed below.
Please note, you can apply any time for admission to the CGWS, and there is no absolute deadline. However, if you wish to apply for funding of any kind, it is crucial that you submit your application as early as possible and that you note the deadlines for specific awards. We suggest that you consult with the postgraduate convenor about such applications and ensure that you allow sufficient time for the department's processing of your application materials, which may require letters of recommendation or approval from University authorities. Please note some funding bodies do not allow you to submit faxes or photocopies.
Funding possibilities
New Sociology MA Fee Waiver Bursary
Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) - scholarschips for UK and EU students (fees only for non-UK EU students) are only available for MA study leading to a PhD. Please look at ESRC web pages to get more information. The Department of Sociology, which we are a part of, welcomes applications for both 1 plus 3 (MA and PhD) studentships.
