The Centre for Law and Society is pleased to be associated with the ESRC-funded Annual Seminar Programme, "Conceptualising the contemporary 'professions': interdisciplinary debates", in collaboration with the Geography Departments of the Universities of Lancaster and Nottingham; Leeds University Business School and the Cass Business School, Newcastle.

The Centre is delighted to support:

Dynamics of Memories - an interdisciplinary group based at Lancaster, which has already established links with scholars and institutions in the UK, Austria, Ireland, France, Sweden, Spain, India, the USA and New Zealand. The group seeks to investigate how cultural and historical memories express a struggle for power in the present. Further information on the group


The Lancaster Professions Network - designed to bring together academics from across the university interested in, broadly defined, the professions. The network aims to bring Lancaster academics together to share expertise and ideas; and to generate interactions between Lancaster academics and practitioners.  Further details on the Network

Consumer Law Academic Network (CLAN) - CLAN is a UK-based academic network which seeks to provide a focus for discussion and research of consumer law and policy. It organises seminars and conferences and undertakes research projects and consultancies.


Centre for Economic and Social Aspects of Genomics (Cesagen) - Cesagen is a collaborative research centre with bases at Cardiff and Lancaster. Cesagen brings together natural and social scientists who research the economic, social and ethical consequences of genomic and genetic science.

British Association for Canadian Studies, Legal Studies Group (BACS/LSG) - BACS/LSG is a UK-based Anglo-Canadian academic body which seeks to promote education, learning and research in that comparative legal field.
