Centre for Social Justice & Wellbeing

Research in the Centre for Social Justice and Wellbeing in Education explores questions about equity, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing. Our work is multi-disciplinary - drawing particularly on sociology, linguistics and psychology. It spans a range of formal and informal education contexts including schools, higher education, home and the workplace.

We have particular expertise in the following areas:

  • gender
  • literacy
  • disability
  • migration
  • motivation
  • technologies
  • widening participation
  • youth 'at risk'
  • self-esteem
  • identities
  • well-being

We have close links within Lancaster University to the Centre for Gender and Women's Studies and the Literacy Research Centre. We also have strong links with regional and international development work through our programmes of participative research.
