Designing an Inclusive Curriculum in Higher Education (DiCHE) Research Event

Date: 4 May 2010 Time: 10.00-12.30 pm

Venue: IAS Meeting Room 2/3

This HEA-funded project is being undertaken Lancaster University's Departments of Applied Social Science and Educational Research. Its key aims are to gather from the sector and disseminate information about good practice in inclusive curriculum design.

While inclusion is often associated with issues of disability and impairment, the DiCHE project views inclusion as something that also covers race, gender, age, sexuality, religion; as well as those marginalised for other reasons such as students with caring responsibilities.

The Project team wishes to invite colleagues from Lancaster's two HEI's to participate in an informal Information Exchange session, to include:

· Details of inclusivity related to duties under legislation and QAA code of practice

· Identifying potential areas of concern (Assessment, pedagogies, tutorials/lectures/labs, fieldwork) examples of issues and of existing good practice

· Small group discussions where colleagues can outline examples of their own good inclusive practice and reflect upon challenges to fostering further inclusivity.

The session will run Tuesday May 4th between 10 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. in IAS Meeting Room 2/3 (County South), lunch will be included.

Places are free, but numbers limited. If you are interested, please email Jess Walmsley before Thursday 29th April. (j.m.walmsley@lancaster.ac.uk)
