Data in schools - an upcoming event

Date: 24 November 2011 Time: 9.45am-3.00pm

Venue: Lancaster University

In 2002, Don was commissioned by the then DfES to look at uses of technologies in 8 schools in challenging circumstances. Part of this work concerned the study of the schools' uses of their data management systems. Based on his findings, the DfES commissioned work on innovative developments in this area. Subsequently, a system was implemented in all secondary schools in one LA. The LA developers have since used the framework from the project to develop a new system that is being piloted in 12 schools nationally this school year. A day of seminars and workshops has been planned to look at data developments in schools. For anyone interested in record keeping and data in schools, use of curriculum data management systems, definitions of affordances to make systems more efficient, and quantitative aspects of research - the day event is planned to run on 24th November 2011.
