Lucilla CrostaThesis Working TitleOnline Group Developments: a grounded international comparison Research InterestsPHD THESIS TheworkI am undertaking at the Lancaster University is about a comparative case study research on two Master degrees run respectively in Italy and UK. The former is a blended course in Online Education and training run at the Bocconi University in Milan, the latter is an online course in e-Learning run at the Sheffield University. The research work is intended to understand how online learning groups develop eventually into learning communities and how this process takes place in Italy and in UK. I analysed hundreads of messages posted in the relevant forums using a Grounded Theory approach and I developed three different Group Developmental Models as the result of comparing the different contexts and of finding commonalities and differences.
