PhD in Higher Education Research, Evaluation and Enhancement: Department Research Community
If you join this programme, you will be undertaking a PhD in a department that has a world class reputation for excellence in both teaching and research. Our teaching is consistently rated as excellent by students, external examiners, and internal and external reviewers. With over 150 doctoral students we have extensive experience of successfully teaching and supervising at PhD level, both online and face-to-face. We consistently achieve very high ratings from our postgraduate students on the quality of teaching and supervision they receive.
In terms of research, since the first Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 1992 the Department has consistently been judged to be one of the best in the UK. RAE 2008 put us in the top 20 departments nationally, with 80% of our research activity judged to be of international standing, and just under half graded as internationally excellent and world leading.
You will be working within a thriving and friendly online research community. In addition to the direct support and networking through the programme, you will also be able to participate in Departmental research seminars, reading and writing groups and other events (as members of the audience and presenters) as these are accessible live via video conference, or afterwards via a recording. You will also be part of the Department's HERE@Lancaster Centre.
