The Department is not currently recruiting to the certificate, diploma and masters courses in Education or Educational Research. Student Profile - Amy Schott
Amy Schott is a full time student studying for an MA in Education. My name is Amy Schott and I am working towards an MA in Education in the Department of Educational Research. When I was presented with an opportunity to study abroad from my home in the United States, I began considering postgraduate programs in the UK. I was drawn to Lancaster University for many reasons, such as its strong reputation for good research. I also knew that I would be one of many international students at the university and I looked forward to meeting people from all over the world, an anticipation which has not been disappointed. The MA program has given me broad insight into educational research. The taught modules are led by a highly knowledgeable faculty, both within this department and others at the university, and even bring in community members who offer valuable insight into the educational issues at hand. The modules have taught me about the educational systems and current issues within the UK while the assignments have allowed me to apply this to my own research interests, such as educational initiatives in the United States. The support I have received from the department has also been extraordinary, from coordinating my application and admission to the program to receiving advice and feedback from my module conveners and assignment supervisors. I am having a great time at Lancaster University. I am indeed one of many international students and these friends provide me with rich opportunities to experience other cultures. Lancaster itself is a lovely city, quiet and not too big, within quick reach of the Lake District for a day's rest from student life. I am so glad that I have had the chance to live and study here. I will certainly return home with wonderful memories and academic experiences. |
