Where do our students go?Where do our students go?With a degree in Psychology in Education you will know how to use ideas and evidence from recent research in real life situations, enabling you to move into careers in a variety of areas. You will have specific skills and knowledge which are especially well suited to further training in applications of psychology to education, including the first steps towards professional work as an Educational Psychologist, postgraduate training in child counselling, guidance, welfare, special needs support, teaching in schools and FE colleges, or HE lecturing. The graduate basis for registration means that you have the appropriate qualification for further training in other areas of Psychology for which GBR is required.

A first degree in Psychology in Education provides strong transferable skills that can be utilised across a variety of careers as well as further study. These include: self motivation, team-working skills, an ability to work autonomousley, time and priority management skills, developing a flexible and adaptable mind to face new situations and manage change and an ability to think creatively, self-critically and independently. Also, don't forget that many employers look for numeracy skills; you meet this with your skills in describing and analysing quantitative date. The Psychology in Education programme timetables in career sessions with trained Career Advisors throughout your degree to help you with your career planning. In addition, we invite local Educational Psychologist to provide you with a career trajectory and insight into the role of an Educational Psychologist. Current Students and Graduates can visit the Centre for Employability, Enterprise and Careers (CEEC) for information about the Lancaster Award, employability, finding graduate jobs, CEEC Events or to make an appointment with a Careers Advisor.
