Educational Psychology - Six good reasons to study in this department

1. The Department is the top of all UK departments that offer Educational Psychology undergraduate degrees according to the Guardian University Guide 2012

2. We have excellent commendations from our External Examiners. Professor Ray Crozier, External Examiner, 2007-11 stated 'I am very impressed with the quality of this programme and its teaching ... Members of the team know their students as individuals ... The programme is a credit to the University. The team .... send out graduates who are extremely well equipped to contribute to education in various professional capacities. The programme is uniquely well placed to produce educational psychologists, teachers and administrators.'

3. Our graduate employment rates are outstanding: data from our 2010 graduates show that 97% of our PinE graduates contacted were in work (including voluntary) or further study within a year of graduation. 69% are in graduate level jobs or study within six months of graduation.

National student survey4. Our National Student Survey results are exceptional: 96% of our students are satisfied, overall, with the quality of the course (the national average is 83%). 100% agree that staff are good at explaining things and make the subject interesting (2011 results).

5. You will stand out from the crowd: over 12,000 students graduate with a psychology degree in the UK every year. Having a Psychology in Education degree will make you stand out from the crowd, and is likely to enhance your employment prospects if you want a career working with children or young people, training or teaching, mentoring, or a host of other careers that are education related.

6. You will be taught by leading researchers: the last Research Assessment Exercise in 2008 put us in the top 20 education departments nationally, with 80% of our research activity judged to be of international standing and 45% graded as internationally excellent and world leading.
