Graduated in 2008

Rebecca HibbinStudying Psychology in Education at Lancaster University has been a really engaging experience in an environment that is particularly supportive, intellectually stimulating, and above all, friendly and fun. Because there is a limited intake on the course, during the second year the lectures are more like seminars which allows everyone on the course to get to know each other really well.

I found the teaching style dynamic and the lecturers encourage independent thought and class discussion, and as a result attending class is frequently something you look forward to rather than a necessary chore. The content of the course is varied and interesting with an emphasis on cutting edge research, (some of which you are expected to design yourself), and it is clear that the lecturers are passionate and as equally stimulated by the subject areas they teach.

Perhaps most importantly to me was the way that the course came together as an integrated whole, as because Psychology in itself is such a huge area with numerous sub-fields of potential study, I found it really helpful to focus on the educational aspect in conjunction with psychology more generally, and at the end of my second year I really started to feel like I had the beginnings of a deep and integrated knowledge of the subject area.

I can highly recommend Psychology in Education to anyone who has an enquiring mind, and a desire to work within education and make a positive difference to society, and the way that future generations grow and learn.
