Moderation and Exam Board ProcessThe Department uses the following processes for course elements accounting for more than 50% of the overall course mark and for exams: Assessment worth 50% of the overall mark or more (including exams): Second Making, where student work is assessed by more than one marker, but the second marker knows the mark awarded by the first marker. Assessment worth 100% of the overall module mark (e.g. ENGL 301 dissertation and CREW portfolios): Unseen double marking, where student work is independently assessed by a second marker without knowledge of marks assigned by the first marker. In addition, coursework and exam samples from each grade band are scrutinised by External Examiners. Back to Contents Previous: Return of Coursework Next: Undergraduate Assessment Regulations
