The SalonThe Salon for writers in the Department to share their creative work by reading aloud - poetry, novels-in-progress, short stories, creative non-fiction, plays, etc. The aim is for people to have the opportunity to:
We will ask a Creative Writing PhD student, a Creative Writing MA student, an Other (possibly alumni, English post-grad, or someone with another connection to Lancaster), and four undergraduates to read. The undergrads will have five minutes each and will be asked to volunteer on the day. Their names will be drawn from a hat. The others will be arranged in advance. PhD students will have 12-15 minutes; MA students will have 8-10 minutes. The Salon will happen once a term in weeks 5 or 6 on a Wednesday:Term 1: Meeting Room 1 County Main, week 6, Wednesday 1-3pm Please contact:Eleanor Battrick This is a great opportunity to practice reading your work aloud, and sharing with an audience outside your usual workshop groups. Also, it’s an opportunity to meet students in other year groups and find out what further study is like. We look forward to hearing from you.ednesday 18th November. Bear in mind that work does not have to be finished, or 'perfect'. This is about sharing, curiosity and general encouragement, not necessarily critique!
