Postgraduate Fees and Funding: English & Creative Writing

The Department is very pleased to announce that it will be able to offer one AHRC block grant for the academic year 2012/13.

AHRC Block Grant Research Studentship in English Literature

This award is available to UK/EU applicants wishing to study for a PhD in English Literature in the Department. Please visit the AHRC website for information on student eligibility. It pays the cost of tuition fees and provides an annual stipend. Doctoral awards will be made for three years, subject to satisfactory progress. Application deadline is 21st March 2012 and all those who have been accepted for 2012/13 entry will be considered for the award (though an additional application will have to be filled in nearer the time).

International Students

A number of funding opportunities are available for international students through the British Council, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office the Department for International Development and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

University Funding Opportunities

In addition, a number of full and partial bursaries and doctoral fellowships are offered by Lancaster University, some centrally and some by individual departments. Details of all such funding opportunities are available on the University's Postgraduate Funding pages.

Please note that students who are accepted and register before October 2012/13 will not be eligible for Faculty funding. Those who wish to be considered for Faculty funding may thus consider deferring their start date until October 2012.
