New Scheme To Help Students With Their Academic WritingDate: 28 January 2008 The writer John Murray is now in his second term as Royal Literary Fellow at Lancaster University, and is inviting all students who want help with their academic writing to get in touch.
Sponsored by the Royal Literary Fund, John's brief is to help students in any department of the university who would like to improve their academic writing skills. This can be anything from the basics of grammar and punctuation, to the business of developing an argument or structuring an essay or a thesis. Based in the English and Creative Writing department, last term John gave over 50 one-hour tutorials to some 38 individual students, PhDs as well as undergraduates. John saw students from a wide range of subjects: everything from English to Social Work to Computing Science, History and Law. About a fifth of the students he saw were postgraduates.
If you think you would benefit from a confidential one to one tutorial, then please email John and book an appointment. He is in Lancaster for two days a week during term time, Mondays and Tuesdays only.
