DELC 411: Dissertation Phase 3

The third and final phase of the MA normally takes place back in Lancaster and involves writing up your dissertation under supervision. The dissertation consists of an extended piece of analytical writing of 20,000 words, excluding appendices and bibliography. It should conform to academic standards of style and presentation and will differ in tone and range of reference from a working document or report. It aims to give you the opportunity to explore in depth a particular concept or issue relating to European Union and to bring together the knowledge you have acquired on the course as a whole. It is submitted before mid-September and, if successful, you formally graduate at a ceremony held at Lancaster University in December.
