Dr Isabelle BaronTeaching Fellow in French Current TeachingFREN 100: Intensive French (1st year) FREN 101: Advanced French (1st year) FREN 201/201i: French Language: written and reading skills (2nd year) FREN 301: French Language: written skills (final year) Research InterestsI completed a PGCHE at the University of Bath in 2007. I explored issues of formative and summative feedback in Teaching written French in 50mns: meeting the feedback and assessment challenge I have been awarded a PhD in February 2006 (Birkbeck College). Carnival and Stigma in Dubut de Laforest's Les Derniers Scandales de Paris My research centered on Jean-Louis Dubut de Laforest (1858-1902) , exploring the relationship between the press, popular literature and the novel in the late nineteenth century. I have written the first extensive study on this largely unknown writer, including a biography based on my original research. I am also interested in Naturalism, Marxist and Bakhtinian theories.
