Other Interests and Hobbies

I like to think of myself as a 'European' and have lived in Spain and France as well as the UK. I have taught English language in language schools in Spain and at university level in France, and taught French and Spanish language in three different universities in the UK before coming to Lancaster. I also, a long time ago, started out in HE as a lecturer in European Thought in a HE History Department before my love of languages took over again.

To relax I like to get away from words and language and I love live music in all its possible forms, running (I ran - as best I could - the Paris Marathon for my 40th birthday), skiing and cooking complicated recipes with organic vegetables for my family and friends.
