BA Hons European Languages and Film Studies

This undergraduate degree scheme allows you to combine Film Studies with one or two European languages, one of which can be studied from beginners’ level. You can choose from French, German, Italian or Spanish.

You will spend a year abroad in the country of one of the languages being studied. You can choose to take up a post as a language teaching assistant, to study at a partner university or to work in a company. Read about Year abroad courses for language majors »

What will I study?

Part I - First Year

Students study three subjects:

  • One of the following languages:

French (Intensive or Advanced)

German (Intensive or Advanced)

Italian (Intensive)

Spanish (Intensive or Advanced)

  • Media, Film and Cultural Studies
  • A third subject, normally to be chosen from a further language, European Studies, or other cognate subject (English, History, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, American Studies

Part II - Second, Third and Final Year

Students take 9 units in all, including the following compulsory units:

 

Entry requirements

BBB (or equivalent) including one of the languages to be studied.
