French with Italian 2011

Photo of Letisia LicataStudying languages at Lancaster University has been an amazing experience. I originally came to Lancaster enrolled for another degree scheme, however the unique three modular system during the first year allowed me to study French and Italian also. I enjoyed these subjects so much that I decided to alter my degree scheme, and I haven't regretted it since!

The Department of European Languages and Cultures is such a friendly environment to be in, all the staff are extremely helpful and always make time for their students. There is a great network of support from fellow students and tutors, and I have found language societies such as Café Français and Caffè Italiano a great way to practise my languages with other students and native speakers. The Year Abroad was one of the most challenging things I have ever done, yet by far the most amazing and rewarding. I have acquired lots of unique experiences, and developed many alternative skills that make me stand out from a crowd, which is especially important when considering job prospects.
