Single Honours Spanish 2011

Photo of Jenny WattrusI began my time at Lancaster University as a Spanish beginner. The course moves at a fast pace, but it is fun, energetic and no one is ever left behind. The teaching groups are small so everyone is encouraged to participate actively without the pressure of being surrounded by a large number of peers. There is always plenty of support provided both in and outside of the classroom, and social groups such as the Latin American Society and the Erasmus Society can be a great opportunity to practice your language skills and meet new people. Initially, I was a little worried about being a beginner, but after a year abroad in Venezuela my level of Spanish is as good as many of the ex-advanced students, and I feel confident in my abilities. The friendly, enthusiastic environment of the language department has provided me with a wealth of opportunities and life-enriching experiences, which will hopefully shape a successful future.
