University and Department Visits and Open Days

University Visit Days

The University holds two Visit Days every year in August and September. These have become very popular with students who wish to visit our University prior to applying for a University place. The Department participates in this and arranges special sessions for visitors interested in languages. You can book a place online or by email or telephone through the Schools and Colleges Liaison Office. More»

Departmental Open Days for Current Applicants

All applicants who receive an offer of a place from us are invited to attend a departmental Open Day on a choice of dates in February and March.

If you attend one of these Open Days, as many of our applicants of course do, then you will be given the opportunity to meet various members of our full-time staff, to hear more detailed information about our courses, and to be taken on a one-hour guided tour of the campus by one of our final-year students. During the tour of the campus, you can expect to see the library, social and sporting facilities, and one of the residential colleges.

The final-year student who takes you around parts of the campus will have spent the previous year abroad in the country or the countries whose language and culture they are studying. They will therefore be able to give you first-hand information about their own experiences and a foretaste of what you can expect when you too embark on this exciting part of your 4-year degree course at Lancaster.

Campus Tours and Drop-in Sessions

Organised tours of campus take place between February and November inclusive, apart from August and September. They start at 1 pm prompt, usually on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, with some additional days offered during school half terms and Easter holiday. They are run by the Schools & Colleges Liaison Office. Some of these campus tours are followed by a 'drop in' visit to departments. They must be booked in advance. For a full list of dates and to book your place, please contact the Schools and Colleges Liaison Office.

Informal Visits to the Department

If you would like to visit the department at other times, we would be happy to arrange this for you. Please contact the Admissions Coordinator to book an appointment with a tutor.
