Presentation Guidelines
Oral Presentations
Oral presentation guidelines in pdf format file
Each 30-minute oral presentation slot will consist of a 20 minute talk followed by 10 minutes of questions. Presenters must ensure that the duration of their talk adheres to the 20 minute rule.
Presenters should prepare their own handouts if they wish to distribute them to the participants. We advise presenters to bring between 20 -30 handouts to the conference.
Presenters are encouraged to use PowerPoint as their presentation media. The conference venue will provide computers, projectors as well as speakers for PowerPoint presentations. Presenters may also use OHP as their media.
The following guidelines should be helpful when designing PowerPoint presentations:
- Please use PCs rather than Macs when producing your presentations.
- Please make limited use of unusual fonts and animated images.
- Bring a copy of your presentation with you on a pen drive or a CD.
- Please ensure any sound files you wish to play in the PowerPoint presentation have separate back up copies.
- Please try to bring copies of your most important slides on OHP transparencies (just in case there are problems with your PowerPoint presentation)
Poster Presentations

Posters will be on display throughout the day. There are two dedicated poster sessions. Authors are expected to stand near their posters throughout the poster sessions.
The following information should be helpful when designing your poster:
- Each author will be assigned an A0 size (841 x 1189 mm) poster board (landscape).
- Posters will be mounted on the poster board with Velcro and sticky tape.
- The abstract title, author, and affiliation should be indicated in a heading at the top of your poster.
- The title line(s) should be readable from at least 2 metres away - lettering should be at least 2.5 cm high.
- The presentation must be readable from a distance, so please use an appropriately sized font.
- Keep visual materials simple and clear. Try not to use too much printed text; graphs, charts, tables and pictures should be used to communicate information where possible.
- Simple use of colour can add effective emphasis.
- You might wish to consider providing handouts during the presentation.
