Accommodation

Please note, the registration fee does not cover your accommodation - it is your responsibility to organise where you stay. Many visitors come to our lovely city during the summer, so it’s better to book your stay as soon as possible!

Visit our accommodation section to check out accommodation available on campus or in town.

Alternatively, you might be familiar with the idea of couchsurfing, a low-cost and sociable way of staying in town during the conference. You might wish to explore options in the official Lancaster CS community but we also offer a limited number of places at Lancaster students’ houses. Contact Marton at m.fabok@lancaster.ac.uk to indicate your interest and we will try our best to find you a host! The earlier you write, the more chance you have to find a place with a Lancaster student.

Lake District trip

If you would like to make the most of your stay in Lancaster, you should join us on our a sociological expedition to the Lake District on Wednesday 4th July. The Lake District is world renowned for its beautiful scenery and is one of Britain’s 15 National Parks. From a sociological perspective, there is also plenty to talk about. The day will be fun and interesting in both regards.

The day trip will include return coach travel from Lancaster to the Lake District (approximately 50 minutes each way), a short walk (no more than five miles), and a visit to a site of sociological interest. We will no doubt refresh ourselves at one of the area’s many homely pubs along the way. The cost of the trip will be £25, and you should sign up for the trip and pay using our our online payment system. Note, the Lake District trip is a separate payment from the conference registration and it is not automatically included.
