Student Bursaries
TBLT 2009 invite applications from students for student bursaries to support attendance at the TBLT 2009 conference. Two categories of award are offered:
- One John Benjamins bursary of £250, to be awarded for the outstanding student abstract of the conference
- Five BAAL attendance bursaries of £90 each
We are grateful to John Benjamins and the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL) for the generous donation of these awards.
Applications (details below) should be sent by email, to John Norris (jnorris at hawaii.edu), Convenor of the International Consortium for TBLT, who will chair the adjudicating panel.
Deadline for all applications: 15 August 2009 midnight British Summer Time
John Benjamins Award for the Outstanding Student Abstract
One bursary of £250 is offered for the outstanding student abstract. Applicants should submit the following:
- The applicant’s abstract (for poster or paper) accepted for the conference
- A statement of maximum 250 words explaining their interest in TBLT, and the significance of their study for the development of TBLT
- The name of their supervisor or panel chair
- Details of the institution and programme they are registered at, and their dates of registration
Five bursaries of £90 are offered to support student participation at the conference. Applicants should submit: :
- A statement of maximum 250 words explaining their interest in TBLT, and where appropriate, how their work might contribute to the development of TBLT
- The name of their supervisor or panel chair
- Details of the institution and programme they are registered at, and the nature (full-time or part-time) and dates of their registration
